Ooops. I’d be lying to say bishounen don’t come into the picture though. Obviously bishounens come into the picture. As well as the big shiny mecha they pilot. And their gayness. Of course. Of course.

1. Rhythm Emotion by Two-Mix: Gundam Wing OP2
The first time I heard it when watching ep 41, I replayed it five times straight instead of watching Gundam Wing (and Oyashiro-sama knows how much I love Gundam Wing.) The starting bits of Heero overheating Wing Zero’s thrusters are AWESOME. The very first bit of the Earth and the five gundams flying to Earth, then the last one going into the center of the five, is so pretty, and so very significant. The drawings of the five guys are also BLOODY HOT, and I love the Heero and Relena back-to-back bit even though I don’t support that pairing. The typical end of the OP of two gundams fighting is also really cool, with Epyon and Wing Zero literally locked in combat. Overall I don’t think the song is very Gundam-ish, but that’s okay because it’s a fantastic song and it’s a fantastic OP sequence. It also kinda fits if you think more about it.

2. Sakasama no Chou by SNoW: Jigoku Shoujo OP1
Jigoku Shoujo has supremely beautiful scenery renderings, as well as somehow being able to portray characters tragically while making them seem normal, which is of course essential because the entire Jigoku Shoujo storyline is full of tragedy. The song itself is bloody awesome, and I looped it for two weeks straight once. The song is well matched to the animation, and I especially love the part where the cherry drops out of her mouth. Oh, also the part where Ichimoku Ren comes in, of course, but that’s the different matter. Although I never did watch Jigoku Shoujo except for Futakomori, I love this OP a lot. It makes an impact without seeming otherwise special or flashy.

3. Shangri-La by angela: Soukyuu no Fafner OP1
The animation sequence is okay, nothing too spetacular, but this song is TEH PWN. But I think it’s here mostly because I like the Fafners. A lot. And Soushi <3333 The rhythm is pretty well matched, and I think the song really fits the anime.

4. Triangler by Sakamoto Maaya: Macross Frontier OP1
This song is also TEH PWN, and my favourite bit is the ‘mikata dakedo aishitenai to ka’ because the choice of people to chuck in there is really good and fitting, as well as the quick shoved in bit of Sheryl performing. It made a HUGE impression on me when I first saw it, and I think it’s a really good mix of flashiness and character display. LOVE THE MECHA SCENES.

5. Northern Lights by Hayashibara Megumi: Shaman King OP2
It’s actually mostly just flashes of all the characters plus a couple of cool fight scenes and a cool shot of Jeanne, but who cares. Anna pwns, and Hayashibara Megumi pwns, and the last few bits of the Great Spirit just rocks. I absolutely love the song.

1. Mr Deja Vu by naja: GetBackers ED3
I just love this somehow. The song is cheery yet sad, and the lyrics fit extremely well into the setting of GetBackers. The animation matches the song and rhythm really really well. My favourite bit is obviously the part when Ban mouths ‘Sayonara ga iwanai mama’. Apart from having the hottest picture of Raitei EVAR in it, the colour, position and feel of all the illustrations, as well as the meaning embedded in the ending, all comes together flawlessly. The only slight objection I have is towards the last pic of Ban and Ginji where Nakajima Atsuko, who conceptualised the ending, made them SO. GAY. I detest Ban x Ginji kthx. The comparison of Raitei as Ginji’s former self versus his current self as Ginji, and nothing but Ginji as part of GetBackers with Ban, along with the rest of the people from his past (and cameos of the Miroku Brothers!) especially after the Mugenjou (Infinite Fortress) arc, is awesome.

2. Friends by Stephanie: Gundam 00
This is obviously fanservice, with 4 hot guys, and sadly I fell for it. Lockon’s gesture of cutting Setsuna’s hair is really sweet and filled emotion, somehow. The skies and sceneries are so pretty, and the guys are so pretty too 8D The animation fits extremely well with the rhythm, and my favourite part is where the scissors stab into the sand and the sea turns red. It really strikes me, somehow. Also the last part where Setsuna whips off his quasi-cape thingo is just o____o FANSERVICE <3333
And I’m suckers for emo guys. 8D

3. Omokage by Hayashibara Megumi
Anna = pwn. Also I love her relationship with Yoh and Hao. And the song is sultry, and the animation sequence is total pwn. Words do not describe it.

Don’t have any more EDs that I seriously seriously love, so yes.

This is all I can remember off the top off my head right now, so might get edited.

This is officially the most amusing-when-it-is-not-supposed-to-be anime I have ever, ever watched. It made me laugh and go high at the emo bits.

It’s really, really confusing. They don’t explain anything properly until a couple of eps later, and it’s really hard to keep everyone’s names straight (at least for me.) and the characters talk about SUCH vague things that all you can do is go ‘WTF IS GOING ON?’

It’s not bad though. The only thing that people might complain about is that the art style is identical to the Gundam SEED/SEED Destiny one. Main character Kazuki looks EXACTLY like Shinn in the Fafner, because then his eyes turn red. Sheesh!

The first time I knew this anime was when I saw a VCD box in a local shop, and went ‘ZOMG isn’t that Shinn and Rey WHY ARE THEY IN SUCH GAY POSES’. Upon closer inspection the uniform was completely different and !Rey’s hair was weird and the anime wasn’t titled Gundam SEED Destiny.

LOL. And the fact is that Kazuki is in his Fafner while Soushi is in his Veda-like room called the Siegfried System thingummy. And Soushi somehow still manages to always pop out of nowhere into his cockpit.

And it’s not just things like this, there are also tiny things littered around like Soushi going ‘If it was Kazuki he would never be affected by things like this.’ and ‘Since it’s Kazuki I thought he would understand!’ KI NI NATTERUN DESHOU?

The worst part is that I don’t think they actually MEANT it to be gay. Oh, I do love accidental gayness.

It’s also the fastest I have started shipping any single pairing, because Soushi and Kazuki are SO DAMN GAY and they look so damn good together. YAY FOR SAME SEX PAIRINGS.

Apart from that, the OP and ED are awesome. I think they’re both done by angela, whose vocalist Atsuko has an AWESOMELY powerful voice.

Fafner is good to watch if you want to laugh, a lot. A LOT. Otherwise it’s quite a solid anime if you don’t like gay pairings or teenage angst (which is ridiculously funny, for some reason.)

According to Stephanie’s website, she has a new single soon to be released! Changin’, which according to the screenshot I took above, is D.Gray-Man’s new ending starting 7/1, which has already passed.

Once again, there’s this really, really high note in the song. I do not know if she does it to a) show off her vocal talent, b) so that no one else will be able to sing it or c) both.

Monochrome makes her look really, really pretty. Compared to most other members of the entertainment industry she’s rather plain, but she can actually sing. And she has really nice legs. |D

Apparently this is also her first song that features another singer (yeah it is. I would know because I’ve heard every single one of her songs, even the B-sides not appearing in her CD.) Tanaka Rouma, and apparently it’s a… youthful ballad?

VERY GOOD. This is going to get her tons of exposure. I’m happy. I’m just waiting for Changin’ to outsell Friends, although I don’t think it’s going to happen.

If you haven’t figured, yes, I’m quite a big fangirl of hers.

I’m semi dithering over whether to buy it or not for sentimentalities. Don’t think I will though, I have no moneys. :X

Scans are not mine. They’re from Tsuya, Nakajima Atsuko’s (animation director for a few eps, Character Designer of GB) Amazing with a capital A Artbook. I love her so much, when I saw a picture of Kenshin in an illustration collection I didn’t go ‘OMG KENSHIN <3′ even though I love him, I went ‘OMG NAKAJIMA ATSUKO’ even before I realised it was Kenshin. If someone has a spare copy of Tsuya to sell me, PLEASE TELL ME I desperately want to get my hands on a copy and drool. Her artbook is different from Kouga Yun’s though because Kouga Yun’s is really an ART book, where everything is done in a billion different styles and everything is experimented with, but Nakajima Atsuko’s is just a whole lot of wonderful hot drawings of wonderful characters on wonderful series she has worked on. Can’t complain, really. (: She’s worked on Samurai X aka Rurouni Kenshin, Princess Princess, Secret Agent Undercover (something like that) and GetBackers, among her more notable series. THEY SHOULD CHUCK HER AS AN ANIMATOR FOR EVERYTHING SHE’S TOO AWESOME.

She made cosfest so sweet, so terribly sweet for me.

Even though she is very obviously female somehow her cuteness just OVERWHELMS. She satisfies the shotacon in me. She’s really a pretty good Duo.

At 2008 Midyear Cosfest in Singapore (something Henshin or another) I bought Kouga Yun’s artbook, Your Eyes Only at the all amazing price of TWENTY FIVE BUCKS for 90+ pages of AWESOME Kouga Yun prettiness. This is the most amazing deal I’ve seen.

I don’t have a scanner at home but I have some scans of Loveless/Earthian stuff from Your Eyes Only (by other sources) in my comp, so I shall upload a couple.

Because she is awesome. She has an awesome not-quite-grown-up voice that is mature while being cute. She’s really good at the cello too. I don’t really like the overly loli things like in her CD, I think she’s rather trying too hard, but the gothic-ish elements, electric and classical things in her music really work well together. The loli things are all because her producer Mana is the founder of Gothic Lolita fashion, or something like that.

Kuroi Torikago is AN AWESOME SONG and it has earned an esteemed place on my mp3 player’s main playlist, because I play nothing else on my mp3. Out of the 3 or so gb of songs I have there are only 20 songs in there. The only thing I have to complain about is its length, a puny 2.55 minutes. That’s probably why it wasn’t released as a single in itself, lulz.

But if you talk about how the lyrics sound it doesn’t match up to still doll. Like if you ignore the fact that she’s singing words, and just listen to the pure sounds, vowels and consonants that she makes, still doll sounds far more pleasing.

She sucks at enunciating her words. I can’t hear half the things she sings for Kuroi Torikago.

still doll itself is pretty good too, although since I’ve already played it about five billion times I’m not that interested in it. Orgel Version is a… music box-ish version of the original song. Honestly, it sounds really really creepy, although rather slow-moving, so it’s not on my playlist.

Sakasama no Chou has to be the single most played song of mine ever. I looped it for about two weeks straight, whenever I was on the comp, whether I was on the bus, train, sleeping, etc.

Because she’s an awesome singer and lyricist and really good at the guitar too.

This was the OP of Jigoku Shoujo. Rather not fitting, in my opinion, because I don’t see how Sakasama no Chou relates to Jigoku Shoujo at all, and the song itself is not very OP-ish, but it was lovely so I don’t care.
